MSc Financial Risk Management

Trinity College Dublin

Course Overview

This programme is designed for students with a quantitative background who want to explore how financial tools can be used to mitigate risk for corporations and society.

Students learn how to interpret and assess the risk of individual financial instruments and assets, while critiquing modern finance from a risk perspective. Professionals, practitioners and consultants from around the world teach students how to forecast, react and minimalise risk within their chosen field. Throughout the programme, students will learn about the three pillars of risk that influence industries across the globe; market risk, credit risk and operational risk. Students will have the opportunity to receive training on Bloomberg through our specialized Bloomberg terminals. The programme also prepares students for the FRM examinations. FRM is the globally recognized professional designation for financial risk managers, giving students a competitive advantage in the global marketplace. Trinity College is also a partner of the Professional Risk Managers’ International Association, one of the world’s leading risk management bodies. Trinity Business School is an academic partner of GARP and the MSc in Financial Risk Management programme is officially recognized by GARP.
