The University of Limerick (UL), is located on the west coast of Ireland along the picturesque River Shannon and enjoys an unspoiled natural environment blended with state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities.

Why Study at University of Limerick?

  • Ireland allows two years of stay-back under the third level graduate scheme. After the successful completion of the studies, a student is permitted to stay 24 months in the country to seek employment.
  • To be eligible for this, a student must possess an Bachelor, Master or PhD degree award granted by a recognized Irish awarding body (Universities/Colleges). A student, during his/her stay-back period can also work for 40 hours/week.
  • Non-EEA students with Stamp 2 permission to remain are allowed to take up casual employment. They can work up to 20 hours a week during term time and up to 40 hours a week in the holidays. Holiday periods have been standardised – June to September inclusive and from 15 December to 15 January. Students with stamp 2A permission are not allowed to work.
  • The University of Limerick Sport Arena is home to the National 50m swimming-pool base for the high-performance swim unit, the National Strength & Conditioning Centre, fitness studio, multi-purpose sports halls, indoor 3-lane jogging track, sprint track and various other ancillary and associated services.
  • The University of Limerick Sport Outdoor Facilities: The multi-purpose, fully floodlit all-weather synthetic grass park contains two full-size 3rd Generation (3G) soccer pitches, one full-size 3G rugby pitch and a full-size 3G GAA pitch
  • The University of Limerick Sport Boathouse is another unique facility on campus. It is located adjacent to the River Shannon and is home to Ireland’s only indoor powered rowing tank, which simulates various weather and water conditions

Type of Accommodation
At Campus Life Services at University of Limerick, we welcome over 800 students each year from all over the world. Students have the opportunity to live in any of our seven village communities in residence where you can make the best of your time in Ireland living in the heart of it all.

Rooms are reserved each term for Study Abroad, Erasmus and Exchange students. We have a choice to suit all budgets while each Village Residence offers excellent accommodation and service.

We also hold a limited number of rooms for non EU 1st year undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Cooperative education

  • The University of Limerick has an unrivalled reputation for working with industry leaders. A six-to-eight-month internship (Cooperative Education) is an integral part of all academic undergraduate programmes.

Graduate employment

  • With a graduate employment rate that is consistently higher than the national average, UL’s graduates find employment in all sectors of the economy. The direct graduate employment rate in 2015 was 70% which is 22% higher than the national average.

Erasmus and international exchanges

  • With over 260 partners, UL is host to the largest Erasmus (European exchange) programme in Ireland. The Erasmus and international exchange programmes are open to undergraduate full-degree students.

International Foundation Programme

  • The International Foundation Programme is a one year full-time programme designed to offer international students an alternative route to undergraduate study. This programme is suitable for international students who do not hold qualifications equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate or who need a further boost to their English language skills.
